What do I learn in the course modules?
ARTISTIC DRAWING
Students learn to represent graphically both the forms of their environment, and those of their own creation. Drawing functions as an essential tool in the process of Design Thinking and Ideation. During the course, various drawing techniques are studied and applied.
Students also begin to explore colour theory and practice, from the use of expressive colour to the application of scales and combinations of chromatic harmonies. Colour is studied in order to facilitate the development of ideas in the field of ceramics.
TECHNICAL DRAWING
This theoretical-practical module provides students with the essential tools needed to give graphical form to their ideas.
Theoretical content is supplemented with integrated study of Computer-Aided Design (CAD) programmes, without undermining the importance of sketching or drawing.
The main objectives of this module are the mastering of the fundamental concepts of Plane Geometry and Representation Systems, in order to provide the future ceramist with the spatial vision vital to being able to draw through thinking and to think through drawing.
HISTORY OF ART AND CERAMICS
In this module, ceramic arts are studied in the context of their historical development. The functionality, symbolism, iconography and technique in each period are analysed. The module also examines the relationship of ceramics to the art, architecture and society of the time, and the role of artistic and industrial ceramics in the contemporary world.
TECHNICAL ENGLISH
Study of English technical vocabulary for ceramic materials and processes.
TRAINING AND CAREER GUIDANCE (FOL)
The aim of this module is to familiarise the student with employment law, defining the rights and obligations derived from work relationships; as well as guidance concerning the different access routes to employment, with special emphasis on self-employment. During this module, students learn the basics of occupational health as regards the specific occupational risks of their sector.
MATERIALS AND TECHNOLOGY: CERAMICS
Theoretical-practical module on the concepts necessary to understand ceramic materials based on their physical-chemical characteristics.

IT RESOURCES
Theoretical and practical module in which various computer applications in the field of digital design tools and 3D modelling are studied in relation to ceramic work, its communication, management and use in the manufacturing processes through the fashioning of originals and models. Knowledge of multimedia software that facilitates the digital presentation of the project is also acquired.
PROJECTS
Theoretical-practical module on the methodological process for the undertaking of a specific ceramic course project.
FINAL WORK
Theoretical-practical module during which the methodological process for the undertaking of a ceramic project is studied. The module ends with a final project, supervised by the teachers of the cycle, which is carried out during the last five weeks of the course.
PROTOTYPES AND SERIES OF APPRAISALS
Theoretical-practical module on the various methods of making a prototype for ceramic coatings and its subsequent copying. The module is focused on a reproductive artisanal process.
New technologies such as 3D-printing are included both for the making of the prototypes and for the creation of tools for producing them.
CERAMIC ART WORKSHOP
In this workshop, through exercises focused on artistic expression, students learn about the various construction techniques and ceramic finishes.
POTTERY WORKSHOP
Skills necessary for the operation of the potter’s wheel are developed. Particular attention is paid to the design of the forms created with this equipment. The resulting pieces are given final surface coatings (engobes, glazes, etc.) to achieve an aesthetic and technical result.

Practical module on developing the various techniques for decoration on ceramic surfaces, both manual and in multiple production.

CERAMIC COATINGS WORKSHOP
To undertake two- and three-dimensional mural projects in ceramics involves knowledge of various decorative and production techniques, both manual and mechanical. The products designed are intended for interior and exterior decoration.
MODELLING AND TOOL AND DIE MAKING
The construction technique that is acquired in this workshop is closely linked to the multiple and semi-industrial production of ceramics. Moulds of various designs are created and reproduced in different casting pastes (stoneware, earthenware, porcelain).
PRE-PRINTING PROCESSES WORKSHOP
In this module, images are prepared manually and digitally, to make the masters used in image transfer techniques (silk-screen printing, linocutting, rotogravure and lithography). Transfers are carried out in the decorative techniques II workshop module. Workshops are coordinated throughout the course.
The images created are reproduced with ceramic inks, on ceramic surfaces; crude, bisque or glazed.
Knowledge of these methods means students can use them for creating, editing and reproducing, in artistic, artisanal and industrial ceramics.
VOLUME
In the Volume module, ideas are fleshed out.
How do we do it? We teach basic skills related to the creative process and the techniques: modelling, casting, carving and construction; the materials and the tools used in the making of three-dimensional shapes. They can be artworks in relief or in Ronde-bosse: original pieces or models for reproduction.
